Campaign manager planning setup tasks against an election-week calendar.

Quick answer

Campaign setup can move quickly when the required information is ready, but political messaging verification and carrier registration can add external review time before a campaign can send live messages.

There Is No Single Setup Timeline

FreeMessaging.ai uses a nine-step onboarding process, but the nine steps do not always happen one after another. Several operational steps can be completed while external verification or registration is pending.

The total launch time depends mainly on what the campaign already has in place and how quickly the campaign can provide accurate information and approvals.

What Usually Takes the Most Time?

• Campaign Verify / CV Token, if the campaign needs a new political identity verification.

• 10DLC and Twilio registration, because the campaign use case is reviewed by external messaging and carrier partners.

• Contact-data preparation when files are incomplete, inconsistent, or require mapping and deduplication.

• Candidate knowledge-base approval when policy positions, FAQs, or approved answers are not yet organized.

• Messaging approval when multiple campaign stakeholders need to review scripts, reply paths, or compliance language.

A Practical Planning Range

How the 9-Step Onboarding Process Affects Timing

1. Agreement & In-Kind Documentation — establish the campaign relationship and required documentation.

2. Campaign Verify / CV Token — complete political identity verification where applicable.

3. 10DLC & Twilio Registration — register the political messaging use case and messaging number.

4. Connect Campaign Contact Data — import and organize approved voter, supporter, and outreach data.

5. Build the Voter CRM — create the working records, segmentation, conversation history, and follow-up fields.

6. Build the Candidate Knowledge Base — organize campaign-approved background, policy, issue, and FAQ content.

7. Design Messaging Programs — define audiences, message flows, AI handling, WhyIVote handoffs, and approvals.

8. Launch & Manage Conversations — complete final checks and begin live two-way messaging.

9. Analyze & Optimize — review response data and improve subsequent outreach; this step is ongoing.

Which Steps Can Happen in Parallel?

Team working data, knowledge, and registration tracks at the same table.
Data, CRM, and candidate knowledge can move while Campaign Verify and 10DLC are in review.

FreeMessaging.ai does not wait for every external approval before continuing the rest of the preparation. Once the campaign has supplied the required information, later operational work can often proceed while Campaign Verify or 10DLC review is still pending.

This parallel approach reduces avoidable delay, but live sending cannot begin until required messaging registrations and launch checks are complete.

How Long Does Campaign Verify Take?

Campaign Verify states that, after information is submitted, a staff member generally approves or rejects the identity information within minutes to two business days. The PIN delivery method can change the total timing.

• Email or text PIN delivery is immediate after approval when the published filing supports that method.

• Phone delivery depends on the selected call timing.

• U.S. postal-mail PIN delivery is approximately 5–10 business days.

• Campaign Verify also offers an expedited service for eligible requests, subject to its current terms and fees.

How Long Does 10DLC Registration Take?

Twilio currently warns that new A2P 10DLC campaign submissions are undergoing manual review and can take about 10–15 days. Twilio may request additional information, and some cases can take longer depending on the sender, use case, vetting, or carrier review.

Because this external approval is often the longest single dependency, FreeMessaging.ai recommends starting registration as early as possible rather than waiting until messaging content is completely finished.

What Can the Campaign Do to Move Faster?

• Start onboarding early rather than waiting until the final weeks of the campaign.

• Provide the exact legal committee information shown on the current FEC or state/local filing.

• Make sure the campaign website and authorized contact information are current.

• Use an email, mobile number, or other verification method that appears on the public filing when available.

• Provide contact data and candidate policy/background materials while registration is under review.

• Name one campaign contact who can make or coordinate approvals quickly.

• Respond promptly if Campaign Verify, Twilio, or FreeMessaging.ai requests additional information.

What If We Already Have Campaign Verify or 10DLC?

Tell FreeMessaging.ai at the beginning of onboarding. Existing verification, tokens, Brand registrations, Campaign registrations, Messaging Services, or phone numbers may reduce setup work if they are current, valid for the intended channel and use case, and technically reusable.

We will review the existing setup before creating duplicate registrations. Existing credentials should not be assumed to transfer automatically between providers, entities, channels, or messaging use cases.

Why You Should Not Wait Until the Last Minute

The campaign can control how quickly it supplies information and approves content, but it cannot control external verification and carrier review queues. Waiting until the final days before a major outreach or GOTV window can leave too little time to resolve registration issues.

What This Means for Your Campaign

FreeMessaging.ai is designed to compress the work that the campaign can control while beginning third-party registration as early as possible. A campaign that is organized and already registered may move quickly. A campaign starting from zero should plan for verification and 10DLC review to be the critical path.

The best next step is to begin onboarding and let FreeMessaging.ai determine which requirements are already complete, which can be reused, and which need to start immediately.
